Colm O'Neill's latest knee injury has forced him to retire from county football at the age of 29.

An All-Ireland winner with the Rebels in 2010 and an All Star in 2012, O'Neill came back from season-ending cruciate ligament injuries sustained in 2008, 2011 and 2013.

He tore cartilage in his knee in this year's Munster semi-final victory over Tipperary and suffered yet another setback after coming off the bench against Kerry in the provincial final.

Having taken the advice of medical staff, he has informed manager Ronan McCarthy of his retirement.
