The Cabinet will decide today whether to proceed to Phase 4 of the reopening of the country which would allow crowds of up to 500 attend sporting events.

Currently the limit is set at 200 after the decision to stall the move to Phase 4 which was originally scheduled to happen on July 20.

In Northern Ireland crowds of up to 400 have been allowed at outdoor sporting events since July 24.

The GAA through President John Horan has appealed to the Irish Government to increase the attendance at games to 500.
