Clare to look at fundraising efforts

Clare GAA will be looking to increase their fundraising in 2020

This evening (Thursday), Clare delegates will be informed that more effort has to be made on the fundraising front.

The reason given for this is to maintain the level of expenditure that the county has experienced in recent years, even though their finances will show a surplus of €257,277, which is an increase of almost €103,000 on the 2018 figures.

Independent auditor Anthony Fitzpatrick has advised the county board that there has been a drop off in fundraising and if they are to sustain their current expenditure then this is a situation that needs to be addressed.

In 2019, Clare GAA held just one fundraiser and that was a race night at Limerick Greyhound Stadium and even though it was a huge success financially, Fitzpatrick feels that more needs to be done.

There was €862,258 spent on county teams this year compared with €863,272 in 2018.
