New LIT manager Jimmy Browne is keen to build on the legacy left by Davy Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald resigned from the position after 16 years and has been replaced by Browne who is a current selector with the Clare senior hurlers.

Browne, who is LIT’s Vice President for Corporate Services and Capital Development, will be assisted by Tipperary hurler and two-time All-Star Shane McGrath.

John Fitzgerald (Na Piarsaigh), Mikey Kiely (Ballybrown), John Carey (Clare) and Donnacha McNamara (Monaleen) complete the new LIT management team.

And Browne told the Clare champion that the aim is to build on the success that the college has had in recent years.

“We are taking over the reins from Davy Fitzgerald, who has played a critical role in the development of hurling in LIT,” said Browne.

“While Davy is in a new role in the institute, we will be building on his legacy to ensure that our players are afforded every opportunity to fulfil their potential - both on and off the field of play.

“The standards of preparation required for Fitzgibbon are exceptionally high. It’s a premier competition, which is highly prized by players and consequently extremely competitive.

“As a management team, we are looking forward collectively to bringing this experience and passion to the current group of players.”
