The decision by joint senior hurling managers Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor not to claim any expenses led to a reduction in expenditure by the Clare county board this year.

Clare treasurer Bernard Keane informed last night's county convention that inter-county team expenses had fallen by over €50,000 from €760,676 to €710,175. He also revealed that the expenses of outgoing coach Donal Og Cusack were paid by the newly-formed Club Clare supporters' group, which contributed €47,120 to the running of the county senior hurling team. Overall, the board recorded a surplus of €136,607.

Meanwhile, Sean O'Halloran's election as coaching and games officer has left the position of PRO unfilled.
