Replying To Inaroundehouse:  "Give Mattie 5 years and see what we win and where he leaves us then.
We had posters here calling for his head at the start of the league campaign.
He's got us playing football. It's no big crime if we don't get promotion.
We are well capable of beating Donegal, a team that could end up in Div 2 next year .That would be a bigger boost for Cavan football than winning promotion and coming straight back down next year.
The Black Death days of slow laboured lateral defensive tripe are well and truly over!"
That's it. Let it all out. Now sleep.

With things going so well its all the more reason that you should drop this constant harping back to Terry, I have been going to Cavan matches since the late '60's and I for one appreciate what he did for Cavan football and the pride he put back into it, it doesn't mean I want him canonised but it also doesn't give you the right to demonise him at every turn when there is no justification. Anyway, I'm 100% behind Mattie and the lads on Sunday so at least we can agree on that.

Who posted at the start of the league calling for Mattie's head?
I recall reading worries about staying in the division but I genuinely don't recall reading calls for his head.
Can you paste the comments below so we can call out these dastardly poster/posters:

Can lads seriously be using this year's effort to hit TH over the head again?? Shameful, shameful stuff against a man who served Cavan football with dignity and honesty.

To put things in some degree of context, Cavan scored 8-102 in their last Div2 season (average 18 points per match) compared to a paltry 17.5 by the swashbuckling side of 2018. The current team need to score 21 against Tipp to equal the so-called black death rate. Also, 2016 was a much tougher league including Tyrone, Galway, and Armagh/Fermanagh compared to the dross that occupies Div2 this year. Just sayin...

Replying To tipp11:  "Yes we did in a game we both saw how good and bad each other could be, 1st half we were really poor and ye were brilliant and kicked some brilliant scores, 2nd half the complete opposite. Goals haven't been a problem for us to come by this year but this will be a real test in that regard, Cavan have only conceded two so it would seem are well drilled and organised in preventing goals. It's great to be looking forward to what's virtually a championship match in March!"
absolutely Tipp11 this should be some match "winner takes all" i am really looking forward ( in a funny kind of way) to seeing how we are going to deal with your full forward line because currently it is one of best in Ireland young Quinlivan is some player , hope its a cracker !!

Div 2 2016 and Div 2 2018 comparison

Galway 2016 <> Roscommon 2018 -- Nothing between the quality of sides there
Tyrone 2016 <> Tipp 2018 -- Tyrone clearly better but Tipp a side on the rise
Cavan 2016 <> Cavan 2018 -- debatable if better or worse
Fermanagh 2016 <> Clare 2018 --- more or less the same level those sides
Meath 2016 <> Meath 2018 --- Meath still the same, average at best
Derry 2016 <> Cork 2018 --- again about the same level
Armagh 2016 <> Down --- once again about the same level
Laois 2016 <> Louth ---- both will finish bottom Laois only slightly better.

Proof that loving GAA and knowledge of GAA are not the same thing.

Oh dear...

The bottom 2 teams in 2016 had 9 points between them.
The 2018 bottom two currently have 3 between them.

I see David Phillips looks like he is gone for the rest of the year I wonder would Fortune have been worth a try ??? or has he turned down a call in ???

The constant references to TH on here would be really annoying if they weren't so cringingly and pitifully pathetic

Kevin Meehan would be a better bet than Fortune as he has more experience but he never got a call up. Crazy really as he was the best Defender in the Championship last year.

Which Fortune? Fergal Reilly is in.

I thought Fortune was in. Meehan can't commit with the music I heard. Good to see Reilly back. Had a good league last year.

My love and knowledge of GAA are great! what do you disagree with? thinking Div 2 was full of world beaters in 2016 was not case no matter how much your short memory may think it was.

Oh dear what?

Take away louth and Div 2 is just as competitive. Div 2 2016 Cavan lost their opening couple of games and still managed to get promoted you should remember.

It had 2 provincial winners that year for a start.
