Club championships 2017

Arva beat Castlerahan in the league and were winning with a couple of minutes to go in the championship - just lacked that little bit of composure. The Gaels will be roaring hot favourites and should win but you'd never know. A game where Arva have nothing to lose as they are expected to lose.

Anyone giving Arva hope against the Gaels is deluded...Gaels will put up a cricket score against them...and wont even get out of second gear.

Championship is the Gaels to win, Ramor had their year last year, they lack the hunger of wanting a 2nd one. Castlerahan and Kingscourt will put up a good fight. Might be a one or two surprise teams along the way though, done be surprised if Cuchullains or Killygarry reach a quarter final.

Show Arva all the disrespect you like but don't be a bit surprised if you get plenty scrambled egg in your face. If you think your team can put up a cricket score against them I feel you are the deluded one.

For a Tipperary man living in Cavan Town you seem to have an against the town teams which I find strange. In other news we should have had Lavey beaten by halftime but im sure you will disagree anyway Sean.

Because I live in Cavan Town does not mean I should support any team from it thats for sure. As for being a Tipperary man well now you are really being funny ha ha.

Do you think your game gave a good performance to be honest if I were a Gaels man I would be worried about their performance. Yes Lavey were very poor no question about that even their free taker could not score but you will have day's like that. Should you go on to win the championship I feel it's as far as you will go once again??"
As a Cootehill man I have belief in our players that we can win a championship maybe not this year but deinately in the next 3 years.
I would look at the Gaels as the best team in Cavan over the last 17 years. It is up to teams in Cavan to get to that level. Time to start looking at the glass as half full rather than half empty in Cavan. As a whole the level of football is not good enough at club level or county level. We can point the finger at many things but the fact remains is that we simply dont have the players like the calibre of Tyrone, Dublin, Kerry etc

Off course Cavan have the players it's a matter of once you have established or collectively gathered the quality players THAT WANT TO PLAY FOR CAVAN then you spend money on strength and conditioning once you have started that you can start working on the players developing as a team united in one goal as well as helping them with their education never forget this area. Then Cavan will be able to bury the 50ths and start living in the present. The chances of Having a good quality senior team made up from junior and intermediate players are remote favor of helping clubs to develop their youth financially and acknowledge honestly the potential players and not those they see solely because of to say the least. I am not in favor of the development squads to be honest for they don't reflect the potential that is out there in the county. I am in whom mammy or daddy are in the community pecking order. (Blinkered and cannot see outside the circle)To be fair it's the ordinary 5/8 that keep the turnstiles ticking over. The cream alway's comes to the top and sadly more often than not these day's they have been lost to another sport. Take Cavan town for instance you have a place called the half acre I live in it is there one person presently ever mentioned on any of the panels from development squads to the senior county team from this area. I don't know any do you.

A player from the area you say you live in actually was on the Cavan Panal last year . Saint Martins is not the half acre by the way Sean. The half acre stretches from just above paddy power as far as the top of the hill.

Cavan have not got the resources Dublin or Tyrone or these counties have. Where is our centre of excellence?

IF what you are saying is true ? about preferential treatment of players on development squads surely this is a extremely poor reflection of our coaching officers & there ability to fulfill their duties. All development squads contain full time coaches appointed by our county board

I know where it is the half acre includes Fair View. You will be surprised to hear you are wrong it's called Tullocmongan and referred too as the half acre by many. When I got my home in 73 I think it was? the address was Tullocmongan Upper. I do know where the Half Acre was but my area along with all the surrounding area is classed as such.
Who was the player from my area and what level was he at ?? you can give me his initials if you like for if it's the person I think you are on about he came from Saint Pat's College around 4 years ago but for health reasons was not kept very long.

Sean hitting the nail on the head. The problem you refer to is not limited to Development squads but pervades at club level as well. I would be surprised if there is a single club in Cavan whose supporters don't wonder at some of the choices made by their respective team managements regarding team selection. I think that Cavan Football would be better served by the county board spending money on providing coaches for schools / clubs at all levels. Basic skills are woefully inadequate in Cavan. Look at the great teams of any sport and the common thread running through each and every one of them is the ability to perform their basic skills with intensity & speed under pressure while reducing the number of mistakes / bad decisions being made.

P.S.
Football should be fun for both player and supporter and lately I wonder is anyone enjoying it.

I like your post and yes maybe more coaches entering schools and colleges instead of giving the money to clubs then pay people to coach. Can they be unbiased well that is another question going forward. Certainly something to be discussed at club and county.
It's been a long time since there was fun for the girls and boy's well most of them anyway.

Looks like the Gaels had an easy win tonight over Arva like to read the report on it. Castle and Lavey played out a draw

I was thinking the same last night to be honest but I am sure it's possible. Do we need to go back to basics first and try and shelve the manual for the first few years of the children's development. Basics skills discipline and respect for each other and their elders would be a start.

Now I agree with you there 100% . There are plenty of basic skills that can never be learned out of a manual.
The kick , the kick with both feet, the catch the solo must be mastered first by youngsters long before formations or S&C can be ever thought about.

Good win for Ramor. Killygarry going very nicely too in the senior. Killeshandra look to be in trouble in Intermediate. Kill and Ballymachugh going well in Junior.

Cavanblueman on the button again. Big win for the Gaels & am genuinely surprised that they had it so easy. 2 defeats for Cuchullains & whoever loses the ballinagh-lacken game, also if cootehill beat mullahoran and crosserlough beat Gowna then 4 of the long time est senior clubs under pressure

Replying To bond:  "Cavanblueman on the button again. Big win for the Gaels & am genuinely surprised that they had it so easy. 2 defeats for Cuchullains & whoever loses the ballinagh-lacken game, also if cootehill beat mullahoran and crosserlough beat Gowna then 4 of the long time est senior clubs under pressure"

Talking to neutrals like myself those that were at this game tell me the score really flattered the gaels but it does not mater now next week end will either Ramor or the gaels want to show their hand I suppose it's a game to look forward too in anticipation.
