Championship 2015

Deanmartin what would be the point in finishing the championship by now seen as Ulster Club isn't till October. What other county is finished? Meath started in April and only at quarter final stage so quit with the usual narrative. And people saying the standard is poor I presune you have being to every game and in other counties as well to compare. I've seen quite a few good games all ready. In comparison to other counties the standard is at the same level. Dublin club championship is probably a level above most of Ireland but that is due to the huge amount of inter county players in it.
Everyone likes to blame our county board for scheduling etc but the GAA calender at national level is a joke. Inter county Ulster championship quarters are played over 4 weeks. Madness. Could be played over one weekend and give time back to the clubs. The only problem the county board have created is a lob sided champ with too many at senior level. In terms of quality there are too many clubs in Cavan. More clubs than parishes. Madness. Having seen Maghera in champ they should be one club with Ramor. Lacken Ballinagh as well and Castlerahan Munterconnaught. Lots of other examples.

Dora - there's no valid reason why the Championship could not commence in May, and finish it in early September, the same goes with the league and one good reason is that it might just give players a good rest as many players started training in January. If you look at last years calendar, I attended a junior league final a few days before Christmas, it was ridiculous.
As for standards, I'm not interested in the standard of any other County, the point I was making was that if you want to have a successful County Team, then your club scene needs to be off a good standard, I attended a good few senior championship matches recently, and the standard was pretty poor. If you take the Gaels, the haven't reached 2nd gear yet and they're in a Q/Final, yet how many of the Gaels players were involved with the County Panel this year? I could name a few of the Gaels player who would be head and shoulders above some of the current County Team, there's also a few other players from different clubs that should be in there.
As for the County Board...the fixtures at national level are fixed with little room for manoeuvre, so there's no reason why the County Baord cant work around them, how many free weeks were there this year when club matches could have been scheduled, and they weren't.
On a different note..Jason Ryan has stepped down as Kildare Manager..pity ours wouldn't follow suit!

Maybe the county board might finally realise to play these games in day light instead of ridiculous o'clock on a Sunday night. Lights are for winter football.

The fixtures this year are bizzare. This championship should be run off from May to the end of August when there is good weather. Now there are loads of matches being played at different venues at all different times and it doesn't encourage people to go to them at all. Radical rethink needed.

flood light drama again !

No drama these things happen one would think it only happens in Cavan. How many times were your light turned off in your home due to technical problems with your supplier. Lights are used all over England and Ireland now for football matches and they are a brilliant invention and long may they continue. Ten years to issues and it's the end of the world.
Just to let you and others know why this happened a fire started on one of the main poles and was getting out of hand and the only way to stop it escalating was to turn off the lights. It will be back to business shortly.

Why not have extra time in some of these games instead of Co board pocketing money for a replay?

They should have learned the lessons from last year, Castlerahan played 3 games in 6 days last year. It would also help if they started the Championship earlier then August. The top Counties start earlier then Cavan.

"Top Counties" start earlier then stop for months while involved in the All Ireland Series. How is that an advantage to anyone? Games under lights are a reality and here to stay until the Inter County Calendar allows for an earlier Club Championship. As for playing the Championship from May to August to allow for games with out lights, it would be games without County Players too if played at that time of year! Issues arise. No ones fault. The Weather was to blame for a number of postponements over the past few weeks. There is as much point in complaining about that as there is an unexpected Fire in Breffni Park.
