First round match between Cavan Gaels v Gowna was played before preliminary round this was not correct either. preliminary round must be played before first round games. evano11 (Cavan) - Posts: 265 - 09/09/2014 16:33:19 1650211 Link 0 |
SS1 the term used in rulebook is notice. This can be interpreted in different ways. Club has to get 5 days written notice about fixture which is impossible if they playing a replay. I know in Meath and Dublin championship games are played midweek even Mondays to avoid an appeal. I think our county board have shown themselves up. Amateurish. Our County Secretary should ensure these kind of things don't happen and should not of announced half time in extra time. There wasn't even a half time whistle. When five minutes had elapsed the fixture was null and void. And how come the lights were so simple to turn of. surely there is an exception to the half-time rule in the event of floodlight failure. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5518 - 09/09/2014 17:10:20 1650237 Link 0 |
Notice is notice, and really can't be interpreted as something else. If the rule was meant to allow for 4/5 actual days between games, then it should say so. Just as a matter of interest, does anyone know if either team wanted to abandon the game based on Extra Time - Half Time going over the 5 mins? If they didn't object to resuming the game after the lights issue, will they have a case now? There was a half time whistle as far as I know. Crowd drowned it out. Would also have to agree with S Goldrick. Lights going out was extraordinary and while I get, Dora, that practically everything going wrong was the County Board's fault, that really wasn't. If your home is broken into and vandalised, don't think the Garda would start hurling abuse at you for allowing it to happen. Finally, midweek championship games in Cavan seem to be the exception and not the rule. Would this be to minimise the effect midweek games have in terms of players availability and preparation? Better to be playing games at the weekend if possible, I would think... SS1 (Cavan) - Posts: 196 - 10/09/2014 08:06:40 1650388 Link 0 |

According to the celt today the lights could not have went off due do someone turning them off as entry is prohibited. The real reason I heard was due to the generators running out of fuel. I also heard that an appeal will be sucessfull as if it is rejected it will then go to the ulster council and the whole show will then be held up. I don't think castlerahan can have much complaints, having won just one game out of their 5 in the championship. The fixtures pile up is farcical though, added to by the fact that there are also minor championship matches being fixed, with some players having to play both. Player welfare seems to be bottom of the agenda. d101 (Cavan) - Posts: 18 - 10/09/2014 10:16:42 1650441 Link 0 |
Who do people think will win the replay with Ballinagh and Lavey. Would look forward to a Ballinagh Mullahoran match but The dreadnought may still face a replay. marita (None) - Posts: 467 - 10/09/2014 19:03:33 1650721 Link 0 |
Easy peasy for Ballinagh tonight, not sure how they ended up needing a replay. Hard game to call between then and Mullahorn CavanAgain (Cavan) - Posts: 186 - 10/09/2014 21:49:45 1650791 Link 0 |

Strange the way teams have an issue with the rules after the game. If they had such a big problem with it in the first place why did they not object to the fixture... ponger (Cavan) - Posts: 534 - 11/09/2014 12:34:26 1650908 Link 0 |
start the championship earlier Ponger..why start training in January, and have to wait till the end of August for the championship to start? wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1668 - 11/09/2014 21:08:35 1651147 Link 0 |
why play games this weekend in the senior championship? why not play off a full round of league fixtures, and minor championship or even junior championship game iheardthat (Cavan) - Posts: 89 - 12/09/2014 08:40:31 1651199 Link 0 |
