Are the co. board seriously expecting the losers of Castlerahan / Ramor to play a 3rd championship game in 7 days next Sunday?!? Shows how much they think of club players...... d101 (Cavan) - Posts: 18 - 02/09/2014 14:18:45 1646834 Link 0 |

some very questionable decisions in the castlerahan ramor game, especially leading up to the goal in the last minute for the rahen! Doesnt matter too much the game tho cos i fancy who loses to come past mullahorn with easy! Gaels championship to lose EastCavan (Cavan) - Posts: 183 - 02/09/2014 20:35:35 1647176 Link 0 |

Big call Eastcavan that either team will beat Mullahoran considering either team will be playing 3 games in a week against a strong physical Mullahoran team. doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 03/09/2014 16:22:33 1647585 Link 0 |
I think Mullahoran will beat the losers of Castlerahan / Ramor. Neither team looked very promising on Sunday night although conditions were not favourable. Mullahoran have Enda Reilly playing well and Paul Brady seems to be back in form. marita (None) - Posts: 467 - 03/09/2014 17:43:49 1647616 Link 0 |
anyone know when the relegation games will be played? wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1668 - 04/09/2014 09:51:21 1647786 Link 0 |
There is a lack of interest, not helped by the co board belittling it by fixing midweek replays, and making club players play 3 matches in a week. Instead of promoting it they seem like they just want it out of the way as quickly as possible. d101 (Cavan) - Posts: 18 - 04/09/2014 11:23:43 1647838 Link 0 |
I would imagine that playing 3 games in one week is not a choice the County Board would make as revenue would not be helped by it. Would the running of the Championship not be restricted by the time allowed to play it? Ulster Club Fixtures would have to be considered as they are virtually set in stone and when you actually start is a factor also. Earlier it begins, more time there is to play it. Which is grand in theory but hands up what Club wants to play Championship without County Players? And this year, was there not 2 weekends missed because of the All Ireland Junior? Was playing Club Championship against the All Ireland Junior Championship a better option? And once again, which Clubs with Players involved in that panel were going to play Championship without them? Lack of talk on an internet forum does not mean there is no interest in the Championship. Pretty impressive crowd in Breffni last night.... SS1 (Cavan) - Posts: 196 - 04/09/2014 12:14:12 1647865 Link 0 |
The ulster club championship is not on until November. There is plenty of time to play out the county championship without pushing players to breaking point. d101 (Cavan) - Posts: 18 - 04/09/2014 13:24:44 1647901 Link 0 |
According to Ulster GAA Website, Cavan are out in Senior on Nov 2nd. To give them a 2 Week break, Cavan Senior Championship would have to be over on Oct 19th. To allow for a replay, Cavan Senior Final would have to be on Oct 12th. When is it? At Intermediate, Cavan are out on Oct 19th in a Prelim Rd so if you follow the above, Cavan champions would have to be decided by Oct 5th. To allow for a replay, Cavan Final would have to be no later than Sept 28th. When is it? Would think Junior is on a similar time schedule. I reckon the dreadnoughts will beat castlerahan on sunday. Fergal Flanagan got a red card (was it 2 yellows does anybody know). just_the_facts (Cavan) - Posts: 163 - 04/09/2014 14:40:09 1647938 Link 0 |
Cavan's last game in the championship was in the middle of July. The club championship is always around the same time of year so it should be posible to plan a championship without this. Could the posibility of drawn games not have been taken into account without players having to play big games 3 days apart? Seems like they're being punished for drawing matches. d101 (Cavan) - Posts: 18 - 04/09/2014 14:44:40 1647940 Link 0 |
Fergal Flanagans was a straight Red card so he is out on Sunday. evano11 (Cavan) - Posts: 265 - 04/09/2014 16:17:47 1648005 Link 0 |
