Castlerahans movement very good too even in first half but final ball was poor. They could have had a couple more goals as Gaels kickout was poor. Castlerahan were winning when reds happened and had a lot of momentum. Paul Smith was outstanding in second half while Andy Graham best player in first. Either of these two or Ramor the teams to beat.

On a sidenote, considering it was the top 2 teams in the county last night, it's fair to say there wasn't a great deal for a prospective Cavan senior manager to get excited about. Martin Dunne regarded by many as the best forward around and he misses a 13 yard free in front of the posts... GallantJohnJoe (Cavan) - Posts: 329 - 23/07/2018 19:54:42 2125378 Link 0 |
Paul Graham and Kevin Meehan would be great additions but have being asked in the past. Paul Smith too be worth another look.

Castlerahans transfers in the last two seasons seem to have helped them bridge the gap on the gaels. if the can get a few more in before the window closes who knows what can happen wtfioy (Cavan) - Posts: 90 - 23/07/2018 21:13:27 2125420 Link 0 |
Probably a case if you can't beat them join them. Castlerahan and Ramor both being busy in the market. Gaels would never do that. They probably couldn't aForde to.

laughable - most club teams in the county have 'transfers'. didnt forde a shannon gaels man play with the gaels most of his football career and lyng is a crosserlough man. i do believe ramor have a mayo native now playing midfield for them. kiernan for castlerahan is good enough to play county football for cavan - would you turn him away from your club if he requested to transfer......?

Them three clubs you named have a habit of it. But a lot of these players drive past other football pitches on way to training.

Have seen him do the same in championship in Breffni. He'll kick an impossible point and then do that. I suppose many people only remember his best bits which is why there are calls for him to play county but he's a bit of an enigma. I doubt he's the answer for Cavan and I don't think he has put in the work away from the field to the same extent as smaller framed lads like Johnston and Mackey.

Junior Championship starts this weekend, what are peoples thoughts ? Personally I think the physicality, skill and form of the Drumlane team leaves them best placed to take top honours. Knockbride to push them all the way with the blistering end they made to Division 2 and the great brand of football they play, I feel it could be a year too soon for them however. Kildallan to take up their place as perennial darkhorses but I feel when they didn't make the final last year they missed their best shot at it. Those 3 along with Killinkere will be my shouts for the semi finalists anyway. Westcavan5 (Cavan) - Posts: 27 - 26/07/2018 10:25:21 2126319 Link 0 |
I definitely think drumlane will go all the way here with the players they have at their disposal, killinkere denn and knockbride.

Senior- Rahan and gaels be fairly even and if ramor can sort out injury crisis could run it very close too. EastCavan (Cavan) - Posts: 183 - 27/07/2018 02:57:24 2126624 Link 0 |

Even though we can't really gauge Drumlane yet, I would make Denn the new favourites after the weekend. PatTheDandy (Cavan) - Posts: 356 - 31/07/2018 14:08:30 2127875 Link 0 |

Standing out a mile in junior football.... after playing one game..... against Maghera?? Hilarious statement! Drumlane v Shannon Gaels - Drumlane by 7 Kildallan G.A.A. Club v Drumalee - Kildallan by 5. Munterconnaught v Mountnugent - Draw Drung v Denn - Denn by 8, best team in it. Templeport St. Aidan's GAA v Knockbríde - close game but knockbride by 3. Killinkere CLG v Kill Shamrocks GAA - Killinkere by 7, game last day was far closer than it looked, very lucky with at least 2 goals. Corlough v Maghera MacFinns GFC - Corlough by 5 even tho id love to see a maghera win. EastCavan (Cavan) - Posts: 183 - 01/08/2018 02:15:23 2128095 Link 0 |
Hasn't Ryan Connolly only played 1 game in junior football, and that was against the whipping boys of Cavan football? Corlough will definitely beat them incidentally.

Drumlane v Shannon Gaels - Drumlane by 2. I think McLoughlin might be fit to do a decent job on Connolly if tasked with that, which if he does will leave them struggling for scores. There's not that many Jason McLoughlin's in the JFC and I'm sure Ryan Connolly is a good lad but I also recall that he was going to be a guaranteed starter for Cavan Seniors and run riot there around January 2017 so I will hold fire on believing he has the c'ship sewn up for them already.
