Replying To cavanlawd123:  "I was speaking to a member of a club that hosted a senior games this week , they reckon the club made about 1000 euro between the shop and lotto tickets , i think the games outside breffni are fantastic for clubs to host , most clubs have great parking and great stand . All in all i think club venues are brilliant ."
Well that's good to hear as clubs are putting in huge effort to host games.

Yes I agree with you for sure and it gives the sponsors a chance as well. However I feel come this time next year it will be back to jam packing the park with around 13 games a week. I hope not for it will give the county pitch a chance along with giving the clubs a turn as well.

I can only imagine clubs around the county will plea for the championship to be run the same again. Anyone that was in Lacken Sunday would agree that the atmosphere was electric. I don't ever recall such a crowd at a club ground in Cavan before and fair play to Lacken for managing an even bigger crowd than they would have expected (I believe they had most of their senior team parking cars and selling tickets). Even if gate receipts were down marginally isn't it better to bring that kind of atmosphere around the county and let clubs reap the rewards of hosting the games. For me personally I don't remember ever enjoying championship group games and quarter finals as much when they were held in Breffni.

I agree with you the crowed at Lacken would have looked very small in Breiffni.

Stop that nonsense, the championship is anyone's. Anyone of the 5 teams left could win it, Crosserlough are my tip.

Replying To Inaroundehouse:  "As long as it makes your day that the Gaels are not in the final that's all that matters.
Your own club Killygarry didn't fair too well either but your obsession with the rights and wrongs of the Gaels overshadows that."
That's an awful accusation. We are not in any way affiliated with The Quiet Man

Replying To The Quiet Man:  "If you do your homework you will find my club did a great job this weekend believe it or not. I have never been involved with Killygarry truth neither with Drumalee or the Bridge so as usual you got it wrong again. Why don't you ask the county secretary what club I am a member off I am sure he will tell you. One thing I will tell you I am a fully paid up member of a senior club in CAvan yes a senior club so that makes it easier for you to find out what club I am with."
So you have changed to the Bridge now! Well when I knew you you were always a Killygarry man. Where to next ?

I had thought it would be great to get out and about for the championship season but after 3 games in Crosskeys I'm not so enthusiastic. A windswept barren space devoid of atmosphere best describes the new field and that they could get as many big matches as they did beggars belief. A vague excuse for a vantage point on the far side among the whin bushes and two toilet cubicles for crowds of 500+, George Ezra blaring from the back of a lorry but the injury time announcements barely audible. Wouldn't have minded the old pitch at all, but as a venue it's not yet up to scratch for an u-8's blitz.........

I do agree with you and fair play to denn for hosting the games , im sure it will be a great venue in the next few years as they are going to develope . The pitchbis great to play on , top class dugouts and scorebored . Hopefully it deveops nicely . Pitches like your own there in virginia and killinkere are top class for games , plenty of parking and lots of volunteers parking cars locking dressing rooms , and letting cars out after the games . I hope county bored keeps games our of breffni .

Do I find it slightly disrespectful that the Junior Championship final will not be held in Breffni Park, yet the Intermediate & Senior finals will be. Surely a week or so won't make a huge difference on the pitch? I am quite certain if it was indeed the final of the Intermediate or Senior to be held next weekend it would of been in Breffni. A county final is what everyone looks forward to and no matter where else it is played now it won't be the same for players or supporters.

Just checked the fixtures page and it has up that the Junior final will take place in Cootehill next Sunday? Laughable. I'd be fairly annoyed if I was from either club. On another side not what is this Junior Championship Shield? Surely a waste of time. None of the club's would want to take part in it I'm sure.

Lacken will probably win their replay over Lavey but either Gowna or Crosserlough will win the Championship.
Next year will be a great year though, Gowna and Crosserlough will be even stronger Ramor with proper management will be possibly the team to beat. Cavan have a new manager things are looking up.

Management wasn't the problem for Ramor, they were simply relying too much on 1 or 2 standout players. Even bringing in 3 starting players from outside the county didn't seem to work for them. I think Crosserlough will be the dominant force for years to come, themselves and Gowna have some lovely young players

Ramor have the most successful underage system in cavan and have the best squad in my opinion, the problem is they are young and all want to travel and i dont feel they ever got a set team in place and the chopping and changing just didnt let them get going. New management was needed by all accounts from last year.

Few interesting relegation games on this week along with the replays.

Lacken v lavey - A hard one to call. Lavey will be confident having got the measure of Lacken the last day. A full strength Lacken very hard to stop however. Lavey by 2

Ballyhaise V Cornafean - Two teams who would not have expected to be in this situation at all at the start of the championship. Cornafean after a decent league looked very average in the championship, the only point they picked up was the draw against Ballyhaise. Ballyhaise have a better squad when they have everyone available, Ballyhaise by 3.

Killygarry v Ballinagh - Despite Ballinaghs shock win the last day out I still think they'll struggle to stay up. Killygarry with the experience and class. Killygarry by 6

Cootehill v Shercock - Cootehill very unlucky to be here at all and played so well in the championship so far. Shercock gave good account of themselves in first year in senior. Cootehill by 4

Bailieborough v Laragh - Youd imagine Bailieborough missed the boat in the last game but they're proving themselves impossible to write off. Now Arva are gone Laragh are still many peoples favourites though. Laragh by 3+

Belturbet v Mullahoran - A dogged affair the last day, two teams who nearly cancel eachother out. Mullahoran looked unbeatable for most of this season but belturbet have some very classy players and strong defence. will be tight but I think belturbet by 1

Drumgoon v Swanlinbar - Drumgoon with two good wins in championship and unlucky to be here. Swad absolutely dire v Mullahoran, Redhills and the bridge, Drumgoon by 6

Redhills V Ballymachugh - Redhills impressive in first two championship games, Ballymchugh will struggle to retain intermediate status. Redhills by 5

Loads of players travel, that needs to be factored in, players that travel need to do extra in the training field to catch up otherwise the players who didn't travel might wonder why they put in all the effort.
