Tommsith here from Cavan Town the home of Cavan Gaels

As a lifelong Cavan Gaels supporter I may no excuses for supporting Cavan Gaels which is County Cavans greatest team for a long number of years. I feel that we are unlucky facing into this game against an inform Derry Championship team. I do say this ,,, support the Gaels as the Cavan Gaels club are our best chance of winning an Ulster title. We have some of the Counties best footballers in this club and we deserve great praise for the
style of football we play. So all together rise and Support the Gaels.

Derrygonnelly more dominant on the score board but Gaels had joy with goals."
Was at the Kilcar game, they scored 17 points & missed 4 excellent goal chances on top off that. So there is definitely going to be chances for the Gaels to capitalise on. Whether they are good enough to execute these when under pressure from an experienced & seasoned club team is another matter. Also, have they a forward of the consistent calibre of Paddy McBrearty ?

No i don't think they have a forward the calibre of McBrearty. He had a good tussle on Rogers.O Connor got 3 goals in the Semi, wether he can follow that up. Slaughneill don't generally concede much goals
Their run to the All Ireland final, they gave few away. Cooper took the one real chance in the final. The kilcar game was quite open.

Good luck to the Gaels on Sunday. Big ask but think they are a well balanced team and will certainly not go down without a fight. Odds of 4:1 offer very good value IMO. Slaughtneil missing three regulars in McGrath, Bradley and O'Doherty which could be a help. Is Murphy eligible to play?

Good luck to the Gaels on Sunday it will be some performance it they can pull it off, however, with the forward talent that they possess they are dangerous outsiders!

Well its fair to say I have been in my fair share of scrapes with Gaels players in the past but I wish them the very best of luck against Salughtneill this weekend. I think that they go in as massive underdogs and that will suit them down to the ground. It looks a tall order but they are there and have beaten what has been put in front of them to get this far.

Its a serious turnaround for a team that nearly vacated division 1 last year but huge credit would have to go to Jason O'Reilly. From what I have heard, he has the morale at a very good level and has players working for each other again.

The Gaels always have the players and numbers but attitude is their main hurdle (in patches) and that goes back a long time. Good luck to them and a win would be a great lift for Cavan football.

Any stream available for the game tomorrow? Currently abroad with work, been listening on Northern Sound the last few weeks but would be great to get watching it. TG4 are showing the Connacht Final instead

2nd successive Ulster treble for Slaughtneil..some going.
Cavan will have one representative in the semi finals with Redhills' paddy gumley playing full forward for Nemo rangers

Slaughtneil probably never moved out of second gear today

Well regardless they got to the final they did not win but for a change Cavan had a team in the senior final but sadly it shows the lack of standard here in Cavan so the Gaels will have learnt from it and might be that bit wiser the next time they get to this stage. End of the road for several gales lads now but they served their county and club well. No shame in defeat.

Tomsmith here

Great to see you coming out in support of our County representatives in Ulster football.
It is correct to say that aheavy pitch will not suit the lovely Gaels footballers but hopefully we will pull through
Lets all get behing them this year"
I really can't see any of these lads retiring from club level. I assume u mean Lyng and Johnston? I know lyngs been injured but he's still well capable of controlling a game. Johnston had a great year for club, I can't see him quitting while he still top forward in cavan
Inaroundthehouse I hope you don't put money on your bright ideas

Shane McGuigan a quality player. He played against Cavan in the Minor final 2015.
Slaughtneil comfortable even without Doherty a key forward, and Bradley

Cavan Gaels weren't scoring enough. 12 pts after extra time against Derrygonnelly, 5-7 the last today. 12 scores over all. They were going to get goals a against Slaughtneil ,
.o connor had one real chance.

Gael came up against the best team in Ulster since Cross. Unfortunately, it highlights the gulf in standard between Clubs in the County and the rest of the Province. It also highlights the difficult task that Mattie has in bringing success to the County team.

I hope the likes of Johnson and Lyng keep going for another year but if decide to call it a day they can leave with their heads held high!

Have to say, am I the only one that expected the Gaels to do better than that? They got trashed by a team in 2nd gear. This is a team full of current and former county players and the rest all having played at some grade underage with Cavan. Maybe it is a sad reflection on the state of football here now but I expected a better show than that if I'm honest.

It's doubful if Cavan Gaels would have beaten any of the teams Slaughtneil played to reach the Ulster final. Kilcoo, Omagh and Kilcar were real tests.

Though it was good that a Cavan club at least reached the Final. Too long of a wait. Cavan Gaels have a league final next weekend, down for Sunday i see. Crosselough and killygarry on Friday.
