All very quiet leading up to this game. Any news on injuries or returning players. Noticed Enda Flanagan never played Sigerson during the week- wonder is he carrying an injury. Will we see G McKiernan start or is it still a bit early for him. Seanie could also feature in some way on Sunday. Anyway good luck to all and hope it's a good game with a bumper crowd. Also be on the look out for any Meath men doing a rain dance around Breffni looking to have Cavan forfeit the points with the introduction of this new 3 strike rule.

In Shannon Gaels! and drop into Nevin for the grub!, or maybe Swanlinbar also a very good pitch! Anyway a lot of nonsense about the pitch one would think that it was the first time a match was postponed. Some folk do not appear to know that it rains in Ireland and sometimes it rains in one place more than the other in a particular time/day.

Have we the eggs ready lads? ;)

Fair play to Mattie and the team! Great performance to a man and played football the way it should be played. The table makes nice viewing this evening!

Bigger fish? Lol.

The only place you're moving onto is division 3!

Great start to the league. Another point or two should see us safe from relegation and that's the main objective. However it is great to be in with a shout of promotion which I think would be a great bonus.

Many of us had deep reservations about the direction of Cavan football in 2018, but so far the team have exceeded expectations and surprised us all. We have tough games ahead, and we've had many false dawns before in Cavan, but well done to all for the efforts so far.

Well well.....I didn't see that coming. I thought the game would have been tighter earlier on. We controlled the game while it seems playing with a new sense of freedom.. credit to the players and the management especially the new lads who seem to be willing to put it on the line.. good food for thought

Five points look good so a great result and I can tell you the going was very heavy on that pitch today. Well done to all.

Meath were very sure of winning this one with the better players they have, I think they took too much from the two Clare games if im honest .If you look at it ,we played division 1 last year beating Mayo ,Drawing with Kerry and giving Dublin a good enough game ,while Meath were playing at a much lower level but I do rate Wallace and Graham Reilly as top players but other than that Cavan have the much better players ,bench and team . Well done Cavan today great result !

Our starting 15 is much stronger now and players are getting fitter. Think it was obvious at end that we not at a hundred per cent fitness but battled gamely. I was critical of manager for his approach as we needed players at full fitness for league but we probably safe now. Who knows in longer run may be fresher and peak later and those that got a break may be hungrier as a result. Two disgraceful incidents today. The bottle being thrown and a Meath official pushing a Cavan player. With the row there should have being at least one red for each. Also strange when McVeety took a heavy tackle the player was booked for it but score still stood of it. There are a number of new panellists and one to me is standing out is Philips from Gowna.

Well done to the boys today. Great performance and that with a couple of our big names starting on the bench. I doubted Mcglennan but he certainly is turning my opinion on him with a lot if new players and lads frok last year like Faulkner and holla asked to take central roles. They are obviously playing for him. Nothing to fear in cork next week either

Now that we have taken 5 points from 3 games who else do you see this Cavan team take points from. Cork Tipperary Roscommon and Down??left. I feel we need to take at least one more point to be safe.
Question are we good enough to contest for promotion??.

Congratulations to all on a great win today. It really was a battling performance and everyone played their part in what were very trying conditions at times. A lot of mistakes made by both teams which was to be expected. Bit of pressure involved too with the derby nature of it and both teams looking to be the front runner in the division so from that point of view it was a very satisfactory 2 points. Meath are a tough, fit and well organised outfit and I thought they dominated possession for large parts of the game but we ultimately frustrated their efforts with terrific covering back and disciplined tackling. O'Sullivan, Wallace and Reilly are a handful up front but we allowed them no room to get their team going. They'll probably look to some poor wides they kicked first half as a big factor but I'd have to give us credit for the pressure we put them under. But it was the way we broke forward that was the real difference in the two teams and we looked the muck sleeker team, especially first half where we took every opportunity that came our way. Moved the ball brilliantly and the movement up front from our inside men was fantastic. Though C O'Reilly had a great game and his battle with D Keoghan was a highlight. Won some terrific ball, turned onto some nice scores and always willing to take a man on. Clerkin is very willing to run at defenders too and it's nice to see this injection of pace and directness up front which has been so badly wanting. Hopefully we can develop this and it's something that we carry over to the dry championship pitches later on in the year. Thought McKiernan and Mackey did very well when they came on too so hopefully we'll only get stronger as the campaign goes on. Of course they were negatives and we should have killed the game sooner as I never really felt it was put to bed. We maybe lacked a little composure at vital times or picked the wrong option when there were much better available but in fairness the ball was like a bar of soap.
Where to from here? We need to get to 7 points ASAP, after that we can maybe start getting notions. There are no easy games left but in fairness I don't think anyone else in the Division will get it too handy against Meath so we should take good confidence from that. We're top for this week at least but very difficult to call it yet. Next weekend's results could very well turn the table on it's head again.
