Best of luck to all involved tomorrow. Really hope we get the win so we can be looking up instead of over our shoulder, although I would agree with the other sentiments here about player turnover. Something is wrong somewhere that we haven't our best players committing to the cause. ballygowanwater (Cavan) - Posts: 207 - 26/01/2018 10:15:53 2070724 Link 0 |
Best of luck to team tomorrow. Very young inexperienced look about them but hopefully it's the start of something good. Forward line looks a bit quicker and mobile from previous teams so hopefully they can lay a marker and bring the game to the Clare defense. Long spin down to Clare, no clue what to expect. Positives Faulkner, Clarke Ciaran Brady and Galligan in goals? 10 debuts.....what happened??? shannon414 (Cavan) - Posts: 228 - 26/01/2018 21:06:23 2070901 Link 0 |
Best of luck to the management & panel of players whom have dedicated themselves to the county panel this year. No one can criticize players for not committing to the cause with the sacrifices involved but like other genuine posters on here it is alarming the quantity of dropouts that we have compared to other teams especially the top teams. Important to start with a win but it's going to be extremely difficult giving the inexperience we have starting but hopefully our lads will play without fear & express themselves bond (Longford) - Posts: 174 - 26/01/2018 22:28:26 2070929 Link 0 |
I would fear for these lads across the league as a whole, but a win is well possible this weekend. Look, the fellas who are missing gave their all for Cavan but always came up short when it really mattered. Get behind the best of what is there. Best of luck today lads,I really hope you can put up a good show even with all the absentee, it's a pity for cavan football because there was a good panel there for the last few years, but I guess that's life.

Best wishes to Mattie & the team today. Hopefully this new team will adapt to Matties attacking vision, and hopefully those awful defensive tactics employed by the previous manager are long gone. I was going to mention the previous managers name, but I didn't want to upset some of his friends here in the forum. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 636 - 27/01/2018 14:09:36 2071045 Link 0 |
It's defensive football that makes cavan competative... what rock are you living under ???

With the way things are going for McGleenan in Ennis I'd say most would welcome back Hyland with open arms at this stage.

They failed to beat a hurling county. Cavan have been crowing about their underage success for years now, haven't delivered on any of it, and some are happy to salvage a last minute draw against one of the weaker teams in the division. We will be in a relegation battle, in fact we may well suffer successive relegations. The future is blue, oh how prophetic that phrase was! Competitive? when exactly were we competitive playing defensive football, our championship record under Hyland was abysmal.

Not the first time we failed to bear a hurling County, big dome of the previous managers fans don't like hearing it. It's just a reflection of where Cavan Football is but some of the die hards refuse to believe it. Nevertheless, encouraging come back for the draw with all those new comers.

You are aware of course that Cavan Clare and Louth are favorites to be fighting to stay in Division 2 so I think Mattie will be happy with this point at the end of the day a match that could have well been over in the first half. Well they will not be propping up the table tomorrow night. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 27/01/2018 16:11:00 2071085 Link 0 |

The cavan team he managed would have easily overcome a team like Clare. Look at the state of things now, our best players en masse don't want to play for us, and we're back to being happy to salvage a draw against a hurling county. If this wasn't against a backdrop of some good underage success in recent years, you could be relatively pleased with the way things are, but we've made a mess of the successful u21 teams and thats the saddest part about all of this. As if Cavan have some devine right to beat Clare and Tip because they are good at Hurling.

It's clear that we should be beating counties we have patent advantages over. Cavan_Shambles (Cavan) - Posts: 575 - 27/01/2018 16:52:40 2071097 Link 0 |
