Fourteen years after they were crowned All-Ireland club champions, Caltra were relegated from the Galway senior ranks yesterday.

The club of the famous Meehan brothers were demoted to intermediate for the first time since 1997 after suffering a 0-8 to 2-15 defeat to Tuam Stars in a relegation playoff.

Calta's relegation comes a week after that of 2001 Andy Merrigan Cup winners Crossmolina in Mayo.
