November 10, 2019

Sean Gannon gathers possession for Eire Og

Eire Og progressed to a semi-final date with Portlaoise after sending Sarsfields of Kildare packing from this year’s Leinster Club SFC.

The Carlow champions produced a strong second-half showing to inflict a 1-12 to 0-9 defeat on the visitors at Netwatch Cullen Park today.

Jordan Morrissey’s 18th minute goal helped the winners go in level (1-5 to 0-8) at the break and they seized control of proceedings after the break.

Three points without reply from Cormac Mullins (2) and Chris Blake set the tone as they outscored Davy Burke’s side by 0-7 to 0-1 in the second-half.

Late points from Darragh O’Brian, Morrissey and Sean Gannon capped off a fine team performance and they will approach next weekend’s semi-final in a confident frame of mind.
