Putting a backroom team together for the 2020 campaign is Carlow manager Colm Bonnar’s main focus at the moment.

Having been reappointed for another year, the Tipperary native has set about putting together a backroom team he feels will get the best of his charges.

Bonnar has been forced into changes following the decision of S&C coach and coach Alan Malone not to stay on for another year.

“Martin couldn’t commit for another year. He needed a fresh approach and it wasn’t for him to come back. Alan Malone had moved to Dublin,” Bonnar told the Carlow Nationalist.

“These two people would have most contact with the team. I know the players, I know what they are capable of and I feel there is more in them.

“A couple of new people on the management team could freshen things up and make a difference. That encouraged me to stay.”
