Mayo forward Cillian O’Connor looks set to make a return to the squad for this weekend’s All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Armagh.

The Connacht side host the Orchard County in Castlebar on Saturday evening and it will be a boost to have O’Connor back in the ranks following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Mayo overcame the challenge of Down last weekend and now face more Ulster opposition and James Horan told the Western People that O’Connor should be back in the reckoning.

“He’s very, very close,” said Horan. “Cillian will be training with us Wednesday, he just needs to get his fitness up. He’ll be pushing very hard on Wednesday for inclusion next weekend, so it’s great that he’s back.”

He added: “Donie Vaughan will be training on Wednesday and pushing for next weekend, so we have a lot of guys who are very close.”
