Dublin are keeping their fingers crossed that the injury sustained by James McCarthy in the Leinster SFC final isn't serious.

The Ballymun Kickhams clubman, who suffered medial knee ligament damage in 2016, left Croke Park on crutches after hobbling off in the 32nd minute of the 16-point win over Meath.

“We’ll have a look over the next 48 hours. The medical protocols will kick into place. We’ll reassess early next week,” Dublin manager Jim Gavin said of the injury.

Paddy Small also picked up a hamstring injury, while Jonny Cooper didn't feature due to a foot injury, but is expected to be fit for the first round of the Super 8s on July 13/14.

"I need to lift it up now and see who we potentially could have and what the sequence will be. But year we've a lot of work to do. We'll enjoy tonight," Gavin added.
