Mickey Harte’s game plan worked a treat against Antrim at the Athletic Grounds yesterday.

The Red Hands booked their Ulster SFC semi-final ticket with a commanding 2-23 to 2-9 success over the Saffrons and, speaking to BBC Sport NI shortly after the final whistle, the winning manager stated: “We felt we needed to win the game comprehensively.

“I know Antrim put up a good fight, we watched the video of some of their games, we knew they had some sharp inside forwards, we knew they were capable of getting scores as well so the best thing we could do is close them out for as long as possible, get as many scores on the board as we can and, hopefully, drain some of the energy out of the team. I think to a large extent that worked in the first-half.

“They didn’t lie down, they came back very strongly in the second-half and showed the quality of football that they can play when they get a chance.”
