Tomorrow marks the sixth anniversary of the passing of Kerry football legend Páidí Ó Sé.

Such was Páidí's iconic status in the GAA that most Gaels can remember where they were and what they were doing when the terrible news of his sudden death at the too-young age of 57 broke on that Saturday morning in December 2012.

A larger-than-life figure, Páidí's legacy lives on. He was one of the greatest defenders to have ever played the game, winning eight All-Ireland SFC medals in a glittering playing career before going on to manage his beloved Kingdom to Sam Maguire Cup successes in 1997 and 2000. Arguably his greatest achievement, however, came in 2004 when he guided Westmeath to their first and only Leinster SFC title to date.
