Kilkenny issued a statement of intent when inflicting a 3-21 to 1-12 defeat on Wexford at Nowlan Park today.

The first-half finished with the sides level on 0-9 apiece but the young Cats upped the ante considerably after the break and outscored the visitors by 3-12 to 1-3 after the resumption.

Eoin Guilfoyle (2) and George Murphy raised green flags for Richie Mulrooney's charges while substitute David Cantwell scored the Model County's goal.

In today's other Tier 1 fixture, Dublin coasted to a 2-21 to 0-7 success over Laois at O'Moore Park.

Dara Purcell and Liam Dunne found the back of the Laois net in either half and the team in sky blue led by 1-10 to 0-5 at the halfway stage.

Meanwhile, in Tier 2, Offaly dished out a 3-19 to 0-14 defeat to Kildare.

The Faithful County led by 1-12 to 0-8 at the halfway stage thanks a Danny Flanagan goal.

In Dowdallshill, Antrim got last weekend's defeat to Kildare out of their system with a 0-16 to 0-11 win over Meath.

Jack Gillen, David Devine, Danny McGrath, Shane Williams and Adam McCormack were the goal scorers as Westmeath strolled to a 8-18 to 1-4 Tier 3 victory over Down at the Gaelic Grounds in Drogheda.
