Last night's Cork SHC quarter-final draw was notable for the absence of Sarsfields, who have appeared in seven of the last eight county finals.

A 1-15 to 2-21 Round 4 defeat to Midleton at Pairc Ui Rinn yesterday evening saw Teddy McCarthy's charges eliminated before the quarter-finals for the first time since 2007. Midleton's win, which was even more comprehensive than the scoreline suggests, has earned them a date with St. Finbarr's. The winners of that tie will face Erin's Own or Blackrock in the semi-final.

Holders Glen Rovers have been drawn against city rivals Bishopstown in their last-eight clash, with the winners facing Cork IT, Bride Rovers or Douglas in the semi-finals. CIT and Douglas still have to meet in Round 4.
