Cork defender Eoin Cadogan is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing leg surgery.

The Rebels defender featured in his county's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final exit at the hands of Donegal earlier this month, but the Irish Examiner reports today that he underwent an operation yesterday on an achilles tendon problem.

It is not yet known how long Cadogan's recovery will last before he is able to return to action for the Leesiders.

The Douglas clubman took the decision to swap football for hurling on the inter-county front at the start of last season.
