UCC and WIT ran out easy winners of tonight's Fitzgibbon Cup second round fixtures.

After a surprise 2-12 to 0-13 opening round loss to UCD at home, UCC secured their first points in Group A thanks to a convincing victory at Maynooth.

Ger Cunningham's charges were in cruise control for the hour and led by 3-9 to 0-6 at the break. Tom Devine, Rob O'Shea, Alan Cadogan and Shane O'Donnell netted the goals for the Cork students.

Elsewhere, in Group B, last year's beaten finalists WIT followed up last week's thirteen point hammering of St Pat's, Drumcondra, with a thirteen point (2-22 to 1-12) defeat of DCU on their own patch in Carriganore.

Johnny Hayes and Jack Langton found the net in the first half for the Waterford side who are now through to the quarter-finals.
