A thumb injury is threatening Michael Hurley's participation in Cork's Munster MFC opener against Limerick at Pairc Ui Rinn next Wednesday night.
The full forward, whose older brother Brian was the star of the show for the Cork seniors against Kerry last weekend, is one of only two survivors from last year's team which lost to Tipperary in last year's provincial semi-final.
"Michael is due to get a cast off his thumb this week, so we aren't sure if he will be fit to take his place in the Limerick game. We are having a training session on Thursday night, and we are just hoping he will come through that and be available for selection," Cork manager Donal O'Sullivan told the Corkman.
"We'll certainly be treating Limerick with the utmost respect, and I'd be reasonably confident we can get a performance out of the lads that will get us over the line. If we lose to Limerick, we will be out again the following week, but if we win, we'll have a month to prepare for a Munster semi-final."
