Offaly manager John Maughan is adamant that his players will travel to Cork in the belief that they can win against Cork.

The sides meet at Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday evening in the opening round of the FL3 campaign and the Rebels are overwhelming favourites to take the points here.

Maughan admits to the Midland Tribune that it will be a tough ask for them to come away with a win, but added that they must be positive if they are to have any chance.

“Cork are a Super 8 team, they’ve a lot of talent, a lot of quality and have had underage success. They were beaten in the McGrath Cup final last week and I’ve seen the highlights of that game, they have a lot of talent and they only played five or six of their regulars from what I could see,” said Maughan.

“They’ll be formidable, away from home is a tough assignment but look, that’s what it’s all about, we won’t beat ourselves before we go down. We’ll go down in a positive frame of mind and give it our best shot.”

The Allianz Football and Hurling Leagues are back this weekend and so is the Hogan Stand Match Tracker. Join us on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon for live score and updates from the opening rounds.
