Ronan McCarthy stopped short of criticising referee Anthony Nolan's performance following Cork's Munster SFC final loss to Kerry at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

The Wicklow match official awarded the Kingdom 27 frees compared to just 11 for the home side, while Cork goalkeeper Mark White was also penalised for time-wasting at the start of the second half.

“I think I am better off not answering that question. I am certainly better off not answering it now," the Cork manager is quoted as saying in the Irish Examiner.

McCarthy also refused to be drawn on Stephen O'Brien's controversial second half point, which many in the disappointing crowd of just over 18,000 felt was wide.

“I am not doing an Arséne Wenger on it now, but I didn’t see it so I can’t comment on it,” he added.
