The Kilcummin players celebrate with the Munster club IFC trophy at Mallow

Kilcummin (Kerry) 1-11

Fermoy (Cork) 1-3

A Kerry club has been crowned Munster club intermediate football champions for the fifth year-in-a-row after Kilcummin produced a dominant second half performance to overcome Fermoy in today's final at Mallow.

Kilcummin recovered from the concession of an early penalty goal to become the 12th Kerry winners of the competition and now progress to the All-Ireland series in the New Year.

Fermoy couldn't have asked for a better start. A foul on Kieran Morrison resulted in a fourth-minute penalty which Padraig De Róiste expertly converted. However, they would only add one more point in the first half as they were left to rue a missed penalty by De Róiste in the 13th minute, which flew wide of the post.

Kilcummin went on to lead by 0-6 to 1-1 at the break thanks to points from Noel Duggan (two), Matt Keane (two) and county star Kevin McCarthy, who was passed to fit to start.

And they tightened their grip on proceedings after the restart when points from Keane and Sean O'Leary were followed by the insurance goal from substitute Ian Devane in injury-time after Gary O'Leary and Damien O'Leary had done the spadework.
