Bursary for young referees in Cork City

A referee had to be escorted to the dressing-room during a Donegal underage football final between Naomh / Pettigo and Red Hugh's.

Cumann Réiteoirí Ceanntar na Cathrach (City Division Referees Cork) and Seandún C.L.G (City Division) are delighted to announce their continuation of their Higher Education GAA Referees’ Bursary for students attending University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology.

The bursary is open to members of Cumann Réiteoirí Ceanntar na Cathrach C.L.G. and provide support to the academic and refereeing development of the student.

The Chairman of Seandún C.L.G, Derry Murphy, acknowledged that the bursary was a great success last year and would like to see the scheme being expanded by other GAA organisations.

He also wish to thank both UCC and CIT for supporting and continuing this scheme. The Chairman of Cumann Réiteoirí Ceanntar na Cathrach C.L.G., Mark Maher, said: “The main purpose of the bursary is to encourage more students to take up a refereeing career.”

Further information and application form for the bursary are currently available to download from http://www.seandungaa.ie/, and from the GAA Development Officers in UCC and CIT.

All completed forms should be returned to the Secretary Seandún C.L.G. and the closing date for application will be October 12th 2018.
