The first Anthony Nash knew about the Munster SHC final 'sliotar-gate' was when he was informed by the Cork kit man.

A member of the Clare backroom team was caught red handed on camera removing Nash's bag of sliotars from beside his goalposts prior to throw-in and throwing them into the crowd in Semple Stadium.

The Cork star says the episode didn't distract him in any way from the task at hand.

"I actually came in (after) the parade and Pat Keane (Cork kit man) was there," Nash revealed to The Irish Independent.

"He was putting sliotars beside the goals, and I just said, 'look, what's the story?' and he said, 'all the sliotars are gone.

"There's an awful lot been spoken about the sliotars and this, that and the other.

"We use the Cummins All Star sliotars. We train three or four weeks up to the game, I go into the bag with Pat and pick out how many sliotars we need for the game and put them into the bag and that's it.

"So he went into the dressing-room and got his sliotars and they were the exact same.

"There was a lot of talk about doing this with sliotars and doing that, but they're just sliotars."
