Clare have some soul searching to do, says Brennan

Ex-Kilkenny star Eddie Brennan feels Clare are at a crossroads following yesterday's All-Ireland SHC exit at the hands of Galway.

After a promising league campaign, the curtain was brought down on the Banner men's season thanks to a 2-17 to 0-17 loss to Micheál Donoghue's team which Brennan feels leaves plenty for manager Davy Fitzgerald and selector Donal Og Cusack to ponder over ahead of next season.

"It's very frustrating for them," Brennan told RTÉ Radio 1's Morning Ireland programme.

"I think there will be some soul searching done over the next few weeks. When the dust settles, I think the questions is going to be asked, 'Where do Clare go from here?'

"I'd imagine pressure will come on Davy from within his own county. He has had five years at the helm now.

"They have had some success, but I suppose there are a lot of people in Clare who would feel they would love to get their hands on those guys.

"Davy and Donal Og I'm sure will sit down and decide what they will do. They won't want to step away from that.

"Certainly, they are at a big crossroads in Clare."

On Galway's powerful performance in Thurles, Brennan added: "They shut down Clare and nullified all their big threats. They wanted it more, that was obvious in their body language."
