John Conlon's entire summer is in doubt as it emerges that his ankle injury will see him sidelined for months rather than weeks.

Conlon sustained ligament damage against Kilkenny in the league semi-final and was a notable absentee from the Clare side that drew with Waterford in last Sunday's Division One decider.

It now seems highly unlikely he'll be back in action before the Munster final, which is due to be played on July 10th and the Clonlara clubman will definitely miss the league final replay and Munster championship opener against Na Deise.

"There is talk of eight to ten weeks, but we will look at him again in two to three weeks," selector Louis Mulqueen told The Irish Daily Star. "Tony Kelly had the same injury and that was twelve weeks. Jack Browne got a similar injury and that was eight weeks.

"John was a big loss [on Sunday], in respect of what he was doing in the league for us. And he is out long-term now. John's a key man. His physical strength and winning breaks is a huge asset to us but we will look at it again. Aaraon Shanagher has that strength, Peter Duggan..."
