Former Ireland star Noel Roche believes fellow Clare man Gary Brennan has all the attributes needed for International Rules.

Brennan will become only the fourth player from the Banner County to represent his country in the series next Saturday, following in the footsteps of Roche (1984, '86, '87 and '90), Martin Daly (1998) and Odran O'Dwyer (2003).

"It would seem to me that with his physique and athleticism he has everything that you would look for in the International Rules. I don't see it as any surprise that he has made it," Roche said in the Clare Champion.

"There seems to be a big spread of players from all over the country. Some years you mightn't have too much interest in it, but all the top players seem to be available this year."
