Clare's 2016 prospects have received a major boost with the news that Donal Og Cusack has joined Davy Fitzgerald's management team.

Cusack, who was goalkeeper when Cork won All-Irelands in 1999, 2004 and '05, has been confirmed as the Banner's new coach. The high-profile appointment is sure to get supporters excited after the disappointment of the past two seasons when Clare failed to build on their 2013 All-Ireland winning heroics.

The Sunday Game analyst, who has been linked with a number of coaching and managerial roles in recent years, is expected to step down from his role as GPA chairman at the end of the year.

Clare have also appointed a new strength and conditioning coach in Jimmy Payne, who worked with Davy Fitzgerald during his tenure as Waterford manager. The Waterford native has worked as an international performance boxing coaching and tutor for 10 years with the IABA.
