Former Clare hurler Davy O'Halloran is expected to figure for the county's footballers in a high-profile challenge match against Dublin next week.

The Eire Og clubman, who departed Davy Fitzgerald's hurling panel after a disagreement over a punishment for an alleged breach of discipline in March (Nicky O'Connell also left before returning a few weeks later), came on as a sub for the footballers in a recent challenge match against Wexford and could start next Thursday's clash with the Dubs in Miltown Malbay.

The game will mark the official switching-on of the St. Joseph's club's new floodlights at Hennessy Memorial Park. The challenge, which will also see new Clare recruit Pat Burke come up against some of his former Dublin team-mates, will be the Banner County's final run-out before they face neighbours Limerick in their Munster SFC opener on May 24.
