Speculation is rife that Clare midfielder Colm Galvin is set to spend the summer in America.

The Irish Daily Mirror reports that the Clonlara ace is keen to use this summer as an opportunity to travel after his gruelling schedule with the Clare seniors and U21s over the past three seasons. The All Star midfielder helped the Banner to Liam MacCarthy Cup glory in 2013, and was also part of the county's three-in-a-row All-Ireland U21 winning team.

If he was to miss the championship, it would be another blow to Davy Fitzgerald who has already lost Podge Collins to football commitments. Fitzgerald's management has come under the spotlight following Clare's failure to win a competitive game in almost a year.

It is also rumoured that Nicky O'Connell and Davy O'Halloran have been axed from the panel for disciplinary reasons.
