Clare County Board has unanimously passed a proposal that seeks to ensure future All-Ireland football and hurling championship matches are available on free to air television channels.

The Eire Og, Ennis club submitted the motion at last night's county convention in Ennis.

It read: "On the expiration of the current broadcasting contract with Sky Sports, that hurling and football championship matches broadcast live on subscription channels would also be available on non-subscription channels."

Under the GAA's current TV deal, which began this year, some championship matches are shown exclusively on Sky Sports.
