Clare great Lynch takes Newmarket reins

December 01, 2014

Clare's Colin Lynch

Clare's 1997 All-Ireland winning midfielder Colin Lynch has been appointed manager of the Newmarket-on-Fergus senior hurlers.

Lynch, who coached 2013 All-Ireland club champions St. Thomas' of Galway this year, will have Martin Ryan and Brian Enright as his selectors. He replaces Tom McNamara who led Newmarket to the Clare SHC quarter-final against Crusheen at the end of August, which they lost on a 1-13 to 1-16 scoreline.

An inspirational figure in the Banner engine room for well over a decade, Lynch captained Kilmaley and his native Lissycasey to Clare SHC and SFC title successes in 2004 and 2007 respectively, and will now hope to guide Newmarket to their second Canon Hamilton Cup in four seasons.
