Cratloe hurling manager Joe McGrath says the club is on an unprecedented high.

The double-winning Clare senior hurling and senior football champions are now closing in on a Munster double after the hurlers beat Thurles Sarsfields yesterday to reach their first ever provincial final. Next Sunday, the footballers will attempt to reach their second successive Munster final at The Nire's expense.

"We are like kids in a sweetshop at the moment coming up to Christmas," McGrath is quoted in the Irish Examiner.

"We don't know whether to turn left or to turn right, we are enjoying the situation. We don't know when the shop is going to come and kick us out the road."

McGrath acknowledged that the first-minute dismissal of Thurles midfielder Denis Maher had a big bearing on the outcome.

"Denis is a colossus of a man," he said.

"To lose him in the first minute was a huge deficit for them to turnover. We took advantage of that. In fairness to our boys their heart is strong and when your heart is strong it will get you over the line."
