Colm Collins couldn't stress enough the importance of winning promotion to Division 3 of the Allianz Football League.
Speaking to the Clare Champion after the Banner beat Antrim to finally escape the basement division, the manager said: "It was desperately important to get up because the higher the standard of football you're playing, the better you are and the better it is.
"It means so much to Clare and we're absolutely thrilled to be up there. It's great that some of these players will be playing in Croke Park. They deserve it, they're a fantastic bunch of lads."
He added: "All over the pitch, we had fellas who delivered. When we needed leaders, the likes of Gordon (Kelly) were there. He turned over ball and drove up the pitch. They're a tremendous bunch of lads. They set out their stall at the start of the year to get out of this division and they've given everything since they started.
"I'm delighted for them. Talents like some of these guys have should be a higher level than Division 4 and thankfully they are. We're on now to Division 3 and hopefully we'll try to push out of that as well."
