Cork and Waterford won their opening matches in the Munster MHC this evening.

The Leesiders strolled to a facile 5-26 to 0-9 victory over Kerry in their quarter-final at Pairc Ui Rinn. The Rebels took control of proceedings from the off and led by 1-14 to 0-3 at the break, with Killeagh-Ita's clubman Eoghan Keniry grabbing the goal in the 21st minute.

Keniry fired his second major eleven minutes after the restart and Billy Dunne added a third goal for the winners twelve minutes from the end. Luke Meade helped himself to a brace of three-pointers in the 56th and 57th minutes as the hosts eased through to the semi-finals. The Kingdom will get at least one more game in the loser's group.

Meanwhile, at Ennis, Waterford came from behind in a fourth-quarter-surge to defeat Clare by 1-13 to 0-11, having trailed by 0-11 to 0-8.

The Banner County led by seven points to five at the interval and the sides added three points each in the first eleven minutes of the second half: 0-10 to 0-8 after 41.

Clare edged further ahead but Na Deise - who fielded four of the team that started last year's All-Ireland final victory - reeled off three successive scores to draw level with five minutes left, 0-11 apiece.

Darragh Lyons' point edged the visitors in front for the first time and second-half substitute Eddie Meaney's goal left four between the teams with two minutes left.
