Timing of re-fixture disappoints Fennessy
April 26, 2013
Eamonn Fennessy has hit out at the decision to reschedule Clare's Munster MHC playoff clash with Waterford for Fraher Field next Wednesday evening, May 1.
The game was originally fixed for last Wednesday week, April 17, only to be called off at the last minute owing to strong winds. Clare manager Eamonn Fennessy admitted a preference for a weekend re-fixture as several of his players will be sitting exams next week.
"We would have preferred a weekend date for this tie," he told the Clare Champion.
"We have a lot of players doing exams this week and next week, and preparations have been disrupted because of this. The exams are important and we recognise that. These minor games, particularly at this time of the season, should be at weekends. They have done it for the minor football and I just wonder why they haven't done the same for the hurling."
If Clare win, they will set up a rematch with their first round conquerors Cork in the provincial semi-final.
