September 12, 2008
Club footballers in Clare will look into forming their own association at a meeting next Wednesday, September 17, in Ennis to look into the state of club football in the county.
Clare senior footballers Gordon Kelly and Gary Brennan, along with former county senior Ger Keane are three of the organisers of the meeting which will seek to form an association to "represent club football players views on issues affecting football in the county".
"A meeting of Clare club football players has been called for next Wednesday, September 17 at 8pm in the Temple Gate Hotel, Ennis," the statement read.
"The meeting has been called to discuss a range of issues that affect club football players in Clare.
"Two players from each football club, senior, intermediate and junior are invited to come and represent their player colleagues' views."
It is understood that only two players nominated by their clubs will be allowed to attend the meeting and each person in attendance will have to sign in before the assembly takes place.
