Clare manager Brian Lohan was not overly concerned about their defeat to Limerick in the Munster SHL last weekend.

The Shannonsiders ran out comfortable victors in the clash, but Lohan is adamant that this time of the year is all about preparing for the campaign ahead.

Speaking to the Clare Champion, the former All-Ireland winner stressed that fitness and introducing new players are the main priorities.

“This time of the year is all about introducing guys to inter-county hurling and getting everyone up to speed,” said Lohan.

He added: “All those experienced guys have to get back into it and it isn’t like flicking a switch, there is a bit of rustiness there and whether they’re experienced or new lads; they need a few games to get up to the pitch of it.”
