It was a good day for the Tipperary and Clare footballers in the McGrath Cup.

David Power picked up his first win as Tipp senior manager in Clonmel where his side accounted for the Kerry U20s on a 1-13 to 1-11 scoreline. The winners led by 1-8 to 0-5 at half-time thanks to 1-5 from Conor Sweeney, while Steven O'Brien also chipped in with 0-2.

Tipp continued to hold a five-point lead until Paul O'Shea grabbed a late goal for the visitors to leave two in it at the final whistle.

Miltown Malbay was the venue for the dead-rubber clash between Clare and Waterford which the home side won by 3-14 to 3-7. Waterford led by four points at half-time, but a brace of second half goals from Gavin Cooney turned the game on its head.
