Betting suspended on Davy Fitz to Galway

September 24, 2019

Wexford boss Davy Fitzgerald

A leading bookmaker has this afternoon suspended betting on Davy Fitzgerald being named as the next Galway senior hurling manager.

The Clare man was a 100/1 shot last month to succeed Micheál Donoghue but was gradually backed into hot favourite and the money has reportedly continued to flood in. Paddy Power had the current Wexford boss available at 5/4 this morning but that price was reduced to odds-on, 1/2, following another sudden run of bets today.

As rumours continue to swirl around the west about a possible appointment, betting has now been suspended.

The Banner County’s All-Ireland winning goalkeeper and manager has been at the Model helm for three years but has yet to commit himself to remaining with the reigning Leinster champions in 2020.
