Jason McCarthy has been appointed Clare U21 hurling captain.

McCarthy, who featured in the Banner's recent Allianz League campaign, has been handed the captaincy after helping Inagh-Kilnamona to the Clare U21 'A' hurling title a few weeks ago. His brother Aidan is also a member of the panel, which is managed by John Carmody.

The Banner will be without the injured trio of Aron Shanagher, Cathal Noonan and Martin Daly for their Munster U21HC opener against All-Ireland champions Limerick on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7.
