Cavan V Queens
with all due respect to Mckiernan and Hayes its just a sad day when your county runs out of senior players and has to resort to players who might not even make the u21 panel..

I wouldnt read too much into the result though, at the end of the day its the McKenna Cup and I am glad Tommy is taking a gamble on a few fellas and seeing what they are like.

Its hard how many players are unavailable due to college football but sure what can you do.

However in my opinion Eddie has to go..and Elliott cannot be in the goals

Yea apparently Ferncombe has withdrawn, something to do with when a weights programme was given to the panel there were only 15 sheets given out and when he asked for 1 was told he would be given 1 the next day. Then when he asked for 1 the next day he was told that it wasn't a finalised panel. More or else telling him he wasn't going to be on it, so he walked.

Johnston is still with DCU and ineligible for Cavan in the McKenna Cup. He is still out with the hamstring injury picked up in League Final and reoccured in the game against Ballinderry. He didn't play against Laois at the weekend.

Ronan Flanagan, Ray Cullivan, Michael Lyng and Barry Watters all played as far as I know. Ronan Flanagan apparently the star man for DCU. Martin Reilly played for DIT.

the reason joshua hayes played against queens and declan mc kiernan was because there are so many injuries in the panel they had an u-21 trial game against roscommon and they impressed so they wer asked 2 come and play because of the injuries the cavan panel had suffered also david givney wasnt supposed 2 play either because he has 2 play with sligo in the fbd league but was asked 2 play 2 because of the injuries in the panel fact

Any predictions on cavan minor team 09???
in reply to TheDon1990

your team is far too elaborate far the modulation of the minor ulster championship. the full back back solution is james mc dermott from cavan gaels. i saw him play a few times and hes a very sticky marker and can score with both feet(eg against laragh). hes built like a brick wall also! i hear he went to limerick it with a coach from kerry called robert kane. and another place that i think you could strenghten is midfield. it lacks substance and finesse.

my opinion.

What will Carrs starting 15 be
What will Thomas Carrs starting fifteen be next time out.
Will he make many changes .
In view of the fact that some new talent has emerged who should he give a run out too, an d in what position.

agree with the question marks over Eoghan Elliots appearance in the goals..his time has come and gone..

however i was absolutely shocked to see Joshua Hayes name in the paper...he never really impressed me at minor level and he hasn really come on since..there has to be better players out there?

Think Tommy needs to realise Eddie is over the hill and James Clarke has been tried before and showec he is below standard!

Can anybody stop Cavan in ulster this year?
who cant stop cavan? now there's a question!

O Rourke back with Drumalee
hopefully O'Rourke will give his young players a run this year.....I reckon Derek Costello could be a future captain of the club. Very impressed with his progress last year

Again Mystic Meg talks about something she(he) knows nothing about.Gerry O Rourke is not the new Drumalee manager,we have our new manager in place.A Drumalee man.
What is your fascination with Drumalee anyway?Last year we were only a Junior club according to you.Stick to what you know.

Any predictions on cavan minor team 09???
Fair play to the don....wat bout christy shields at wing bak?? hes very small but lightning quick!! wing back mite suit him....i agree with playin packie at full forward it gives the boys a great target inside and hopefully they will use him...its bout time they started gettin the long ball workin in cavan football...i felt this was mickeys downfall last yr..watched the dvd of the tyrone game they gave away 6 points from silly hand passin...when packie and reilly came it made a massive difference every ball then after was kicked long and it worked so hopefully the cavan minors and seniors can bring that to there game from now on!!!

Any predictions on cavan minor team 09???
1-Sean Briody
2-Shane Reilly
3- (has to be a specialist.gunner bradys a centre back without doubt..minors are cryin out for someone to step up and answer S’ call in da full back position)
4-fergal Blessing or Thomas Rodgers
5-Paul Mc Evoy or Turlock Mooney
6-Killian Brady
7-Mickey Brady (C)
8-Barry Reilly
9-Paddy King
10-Fergal Flannagan
11-Kevin Tierney
12-Christy Shiels
13-Darragh Seagrave or Darragh mc govern
14-Packie Leddy
15-Raymond Lynch

Full backs the main issue in my opinion,,has to be a lad whose playing there regularli for club,,maybe some of the minor teams u17 and u16 players who may have been corner or wing backs last year will step up and slot in well..if there not solid there they may quit all the hype now cus championship winnin teams are built on a solid full back line.. 6 and 7 pick themselves but id be worried for the other wing backs there just two that i played with and against in the past year nd had great performances last year..corner back also subject to change no doubtin blessings strength and boscos skill but is it enough..midfield also reilly is a dead cert but is king really strong enough..i only posted this team to see if anyone had more suitable players i jus cant think of any other big men in the age group???? hearing great things about this christy sheils lad from the tests but havent seen him play so im going on what im hearing..lynch tieney reilly the two bradys and leddy will always start having had the expierience last year. i’d still put packie leddy full forward by far the most effective place for the man..played with him last year with redbridge and any time we played that system ie( against castlerahan in the league) he won everything and almost 85% of the scores went through him and it nearli doesnt matter then who plays off him becuase his supply is always good and we all know he can change games..just wana say best of luck to all da lads selected for the trials and i hope that some1 new stands out that we havent thought off and has a great year..would be good for cavan football and give a lot of fringe players belief that it can be done..best of luck in 2009 lads

Cavan V Queens
just saw the Queens goals on the news last night and Eoghan Elliott looked very dodgy, especially on the first goal.
surely there are better options out there? who all played goals in the regional trials?

i would have though shane sheridan, james carolan or even ronan keaskin would have been better options than Elliott?
